Laws regarding sale of Black Powder revolver

I have a Ruger Old Army black powder revolver and I'd love to sell it. I know that federal laws don't consider it to be a firearm, and in NYS it doesn't need to be on a permit unless you have all of the necessary components, which I don't. Can I just sell it face to face, or is there anything special I need to do?

Sell it like you would in America. Face to face, by mail. Whatever. It's not a firearm.

I got my BP pistol at a gun store after i spent 200 in reloading stuff , then seen it the show case .. shit!!! i want ..
friend was like need a loan .. the shop guy just asked if i had the stuff to load it .. nope .. all i have for BP loading is for rifle 50cal

I’ve owned one now for close to over 30 years. Stainless steel model. You gotta love the instructions where it says how much black powder to load. “ as much as you can fit in “

I had this same question so I asked the local sheriff's dept. Since I had it added to my permit, it became a registered pistol & I'd have to sell to a dealer or private individual with a permit.
If it wasn't on my permit, I could sell to anyone. Mine is also a Ruger Old Army.

I had a person interested in buying the Ruger and would need it removed from my permit one way or another. A few years ago when I upgraded from my paper permit to plastic, I told the clerk that I no longer had the reproduction, Walker revolver. I had to write a short letter to the judge explaining that I must have lost the darn thing.

I’ve got a BP Harper’s Ferry pistol. I went to add it to my pistol license so I could shoot it and they were genuinely annoyed that I was bothering to. Getting all the transfer information was difficult. I had to make a good number of phone calls trying to trace down all the FFL info of the originating dealer. They couldn’t add it without it. I had ordered it online.

It was ages ago when I added black powder pistols to my permit and all I needed was a receipt with the serial number. It was done at the Washington County building back then. The nice lady, Jo-Ann would greet me with a hug, chat for a while and I always brought her a bag of Gummy Bears. She works at a fabric store these days and still get hugs when my wife & shop there. The sheriff's office is totally different. When I got my new, plastic permit, I noticed it included a Browning High Power.
I explained to the lady that I no longer had it and she scolded me for losing another pistol.

I told her exactly which gun shop I sold it to and they should have all the paperwork on hand. Her face turned red when she found the mistake, left the room and had another girl make me a corrected card.

just get rid of the stuff to shoot it .. then just remove it from your permit .. its a wall decoration now sir ..

I have three flintlock pistols that I made on my permit. I engraved my own serial numbers, N0.1, No2, and No3. They still wanted some kind of provenance. What a load of crap!

Mine is blued, this one is stainless, and mine is in better shape. This one is up to $455 as of now. I guess I will keep an eye on it and see where it ends.

If you search under 'advanced' you can look at completed auctions. Not all the items are sold, so take into consideration some that have bids and others don't.
