Looking for some assistance. Why would someone cut a receiver like this?

Might not have been smart enough to figure out how to remove the Bolt from the receiver (it "snaps" up and over so the Slot Bolt Body and Head can be removed)

I once had a LE SMLE...really neat piece of history. This rifle, if anything like the old LEs, had a bridge that was used for stripper clips, and it also had a magazine cutoff. Yours appears to be missing these features...perhaps removed by previous owners.
