I like the idea but wonder if anyone has heard about their legality in nys? Being that this product replaces the floor plate to a dual sided floor plate I would be concerned someone might try to say it was modified to be (1) 20rd mag. The legal definition of a detachable mag leaves a lot of grey area surprise surprise.
So you're saying if I tape two mags together offset in opposite directions (flip to reload) it's questionable as to it legality? How about I do a tri-pack...?
Ummmmmm, no question at all, you're worrying too much and thinking too much...
Exactly what they want you to do, and therefore they're winning!
I had that alangator or whatever it’s called for my 10/22 to hold three 5 round mags like an x looking thing and dudes at the range we’re like hey are you LE? That’s considered a high cap mag. I’m thinking on what planet. I have to detach, turn, attach and so on. Stupid.
If they had separate floor plates I’d say no question legal but the fact they share 1 floor plate and therefore becomes 1 unit it “could” be misinterpreted as a ammunition feeding device that holds more than ten rounds or whatever the verbiage is. Maybe i am overthinking it I just want to know if there is a clear answer.
It still is two magazines. When you only have one follower and one spring then it's one magazine. If you have 2 followers and 2 springs then it's 2 magazines. It's really that simple.
But if you have to detach mag, flip and reattach isn’t it another story??? It’s not continuos feed of ammo.
So confused, can we just have full caps back.
I looked into getting these couplers after safe can into law. I taped 2 magazines together to simulate how the magazine couplers would be to see if I liked it.
What I found is that it's awkward to use. You have to press the magazine release and hold the magazine so that it doesn't fall to the ground. You then have to pull it out and do gymnastics and contortions to flip it and turn it so that the rounds are facing the right way to reinsert.
Try it to see what I'm saying. It's much faster just to drop the 10 rd magazine to the ground via pressing a button and inserting a fresh 10 rd magazine.
The legal criteria is that the magazine can not accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
If I couple 2 magazines together, and each individual magazine can only accept 10 rounds of ammunition, you have met the requirements of The UnSafe Act
To think otherwise is a waste of time, effort, and worry.
It's two mags you einsteins!!!! Does a double barreled shotgun transfer as two receivers?!!!
PS It works better to tape two 10/30s together both facing up with an empty case between them to spread the tops out at an angle to stick them in the mag well separately.
