I believe this meme may be false. It was not a crime in the Netherlands to be a Jew. Ann Frank was never accused or tried for an actual crime. Germany was an occupying army, and arrested and deported civilians, which is a war crime, even before the Geneva Conventions.

If Donald Trump has evidence of the corruption in the Trump-Russia collusion fabrication and targeting effort, there would be evidence of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) participating in joint-effort with the DOJ and FBI. When the FBI launched their 2016 targeting operation against candidate Donald Trump, it was the SSCI who coordinated with them.
If the Gang of Eight is currently trying to see what documents President Trump held in Mar-a-Lago, what they are really trying to see is what evidence President Trump has against them.
Watch carefully now….
Watch how the DOJ-NSD and FBI respond to the Gang of Eight. If they follow the pattern, then Main Justice will likely support legislative oversight only through the SSCI.

The meme doesn't say it was a crime to be a jew in Nazi Germany. It says it was a crime to hide them, because it was.
Furthermore, they had been ordered to report for transport to a work camp, they (wisely) ignored the order to go into hiding. That was also a crime (but not the one addressed by the meme).
I have no doubt both would be considered crimes here too.
Imagine some Japanese refusing to go to an internment camp here in the same period, and some neighbors hiding them. They would all have been prosecuted.
A few decades earlier we had a similar situation here with the underground railroad.

Ann Frank did not live in Germany. She lived in Holland. Occupying a country and seizing/deporting civilians was a war crime, even in 1941. So no, it was not "legal".

The vast majority of laws are unjust, that doesn't make them not laws.

Wrong. Germany was a signatory to the 1907 Hague Convention which made it illegal to arrest and deport civilians in Occupied territory. Germany violated international law.
