New York’s New Red Flag Gun Grab

Democrat Governor Hochul is praising this new policy of gun confiscation as "a model for the rest of the nation.”

Last year, judges approved 1,600 Red Flag confiscations in Suffolk County alone. Across the state, the number of confiscations reached 4,300 in 2022. This is up from 222 in 2021, resulting in a 1900% increase.​

The new state policy includes the possibility of a wider range of people accusing others of being a risk to society. The list of those given authority to accuse and speculate on the mental stability and/or level of societal risk a person may pose includes family members, police, health officials, and school officials. Keep in mind any of these folks who may have a hatred for the 2nd Amendment or an irrational fear of guns can easily make untrue accusations. This, of course, maybe why the State allows these confiscations to take place without due process for the accused.

Democrat Governor Hochul is praising this new policy as “a model for the rest of the nation.” she claims this is a way to prevent deadly tragedies yet makes no mention of violating the Constitutional rights of Americans in the process. A simple accusation from another person out of vengeance or irrational fear is a possibility.​

I don't want to hear a god damn peep from anyone about "why" mental health is failing us regarding mass shootings. Not a damn word.

If you make people social pariahs for simply needing help, they will never reach out for help. If you demonize them for wanting help, they won't seek it out. If you inject the government in between doctors and patients, you destroy the relationship.

The only way to have true preventative mental health is to remove all barriers to doctors being confidential with patients. There needs to be an ABSOLUTE authority for them to withhold information. A doctor should have 5th amendment style privileges regarding their relationship with a patient. Confidentiality brings confidence to the process, and confidence brings trust.

Red-flag laws only serve to push people further away from ever asking for help in fear of this happening to them.

And it was going on in New Yorkistan long before this new law. Been there, experienced it when I "used profanity" to tell an asshole who had made admitted (to my local PD no less) and documented threats to kill me, - to "get the fuck back in his car and to stay off of my property and away from me". I did not threaten him, or menace him in any manner whatsoever, and I remained on my own property. I had to hire a lawyer; go to NY Supreme Court and testify; and it took me 6 months of pushing to get my guns back. Fuck New Yorkistan and their unconstitutional anti 2A shit!

Nowadays, if we tell some anti 2A type, or someone who merely dislikes us "to fuck off and go away", we run the risk of them running to the authorities and filing a red flag law complaint against us, saying something like: "He's big, and he's loud, and he's rude, and looked at me with a mean face, and he's nasty, and he said something mean to me, and I am afraid of him,...blah, blah, blah. And, oh yeah, he owns guns..."

SC and NC do not have that unconstitutional BS - for now at least.
