Literally the first words out of my mouth reading the title were "Are you fucking with me?"

Bullshit fees have always been in place to deter gun ownership, every since the national firearms act put a $200 fee on dealers and others. The $200 fee was prohibitively high at the time (1938), which was the intent of setting it at that number. It was meant to deter dealing and, therefore, ownership. Now, obviously, that number is far more reasonable.

I've never heard of anyone putting a fee on our other rights. You don't need a fee to speak your mind, or not be subject to unwarranted searches. We shouldn't be putting fees any any of the rights secured in the bill of rights. While it might be small fee, it's still yet another arbitrary fee.

When a lawbreaker is charged in any action which involves a firearm, the parents or other immediate guardians should be assessed a penalty tax the justification of which would be that the guardian/parent showed irresponsibility in the perp's upbringing. This way the tax would devolve upon the irresponsible parties, ie the upbringers pay for their lack of parenting skills, the perp pays by fine or jail time. Part or all of the proceeds go to fund NICS.

Her other legislation introduced in Congress includes a $100.00 tax on each gun purchase, all handguns to be fitted with a tracking mechanism with a $1000.00 fine for each case of non compliance, a $10,000.00 fine if a gun is lost or stolen and the event is not reported within 48 hours. Lotsa fees and federal penalties to exercise a constitutional right. Maybe she would like poll taxes for the right to vote too.

When the income tax was originally instituted it was only 1%.
