NY State Loses $73 Million In Federal Highway Funding Over Failed CDL Revocations​

Over $73 million in federal highway funds are being withheld from New York state after an audit found more than half the state’s commercial drivers licenses (CDL) were issued to foreigners illegally.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced yesterday that the state failed to revoke “illegally issued nondomiciled commercial learner’s permits and commercial driver’s licenses.”
According to a December press release from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) nationwide audit of non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) uncovered a shocking 53 percent failure rate in the records sampled, indicating serious problems in New York’s CDL program.

Among the failures documented were New York DMV systems defaulting to issuing eight-year licenses to foreign drivers for non-REAL ID licenses, regardless of when their legal status expired, and the state issuing commercial licenses to foreign drivers without providing any evidence that it had verified their current lawful presence in the United States.

NYS DMV is tortuous to resident citizens, yet provides a free ride to those who cannot provide resident proof, or documents to provide WHO they are!

What could possibly go wrong with that right?

Well, we have seen the results!

Problem is this ... Whomever established or approved this policy should be held to account, including up to Civil responsibility (lawsuits)... But that never happens!

Will NY comply? I doubt it. This country needs some state vs federal issue like this to be the start of something bigger. I would love for this to turn into people getting arrested, all federal funds frozen, nothing moves in or out of the state, etc...

I drive a 300" WB semi truck with a 53' trailer recreationaly, its really not hard to know how to not drive like an idiot and be able to back up. The amount of non English speaking "drivers" doing deliveries from JFK is astounding. Watching them try to back up to probably the easiest dock ever is beyond entertaining. No exaggeration, typical times range from 20 mins to over 40 mins to back in. I put up landscaping boulders to keep them off the grass, they constantly smash their trucks into them.
Actual drivers can be from the street to the dock plate in less than 1 minute.
