But the article clearly states they are not just putting the plasticware, condiments, napkins, etc into your takeout order. All you have to do is ask for it. No extra charge. No telling you the law says you can't have it. Just ask for it.

If it's so pedantic that the law won't really affect anyone, it's should not be a law.

This is a private business decision between the owner of the restaurant and the consumer.

The government has no business being involved whatsoever.

All its really saying is just include what the customer asks for instead of throwing a bunch of shit in every takeout bag. This really should more or less be just common sense rather than we need legislation for it.

Whenever we used to take out order Chinese food, there was always a shit load of duck sauce loaded up in the bag. We always chucked it. If someone wants duck sauce, ask for it.

I can't use straws. I personally don't know how anyone uses them. I hate them. But we used to have a server dump 7 straws on the table for a family of 5 when we ate out. Again , should be common sense to give diners utensils they ask for,.not just an automatic dump.of a bunchnof worthless material.

Do you have a source for this?

Not off the top of my head, no. But, I do know that the huge influx of plastic particles into the ocean, from the disintegration of plastic, is causing problems at the very bottom of the food chain there. That is leading to population loss of plankton, which support the entire tree of like in the oceans. I’m sure that if it has not shown itself yet in diminishing harvests, it will soon enough. I think I got that from a report from the Woods Hole Oceanagraphic Institute - but I don’t have it in front of me, so I can’t be certain of that.
