The Post article seems to lament changes in NYC districts.
I don't give a damn about NYC. Personally, I keep hoping it will fall of the planet.

I care about the fact that they merged Orleans County, a significantly right-leaning area, with Rochester, a left-leaning cesspool only slightly less offensive than NYC. Effectively diluting any conservative vote in Orleans County to almost nil.

I don't give a damn about NYC. Personally, I keep hoping it will fall of the planet.

I care about the fact that they merged Orleans County, a significantly right-leaning area, with Rochester, a left-leaning cesspool only slightly less offensive than NYC. Effectively diluting any conservative vote in Orleans County to almost nil.

I live near Binghamton. In this area, there is one area of significance: Binghamton. We call it the triple cities, but in reality, it's just one city, and a very small one at that. Simply put, Broome and Tioga counties are essentially one area - for example, we all share the same newspaper (and only have one). And our state senate district reflected that: it was basically a radius around Binghamton that covered most of what we consider our "local area."

I live less than two miles from the Binghamton city line, but their recent redistricting shenanigans put me in a new district whose center is more than an hour's drive east of Binghamton. They then took Binghamton and drew some crazy lines that connected it with Ithaca (an hour's drive northwest of Binghamton). The obvious intent here was to pull liberal-leaning hotspots out of the conservative-leaning areas they reside in and combine them into their own liberal-leaning district.

The partisanship is so ridiculously blatant that it's hard to believe.
