It can be a crime and a disorder. In the case of pedophilia it certainly should be. People who are sexually attracted to children are obviously ill, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be a crime.

I have no problem locking up the criminally mentally ill.

If your illness isn't a danger to anyone else, then sure, you can walk free while it's treated. If your illness causes you to hurt others, then no, it's not just a disorder.

Jeffrey Dahmer was certainly suffering from mental illness, doesn't give him a pass on cannibalism.

Well stated and agreed, sir; but my question of doubt was in regard to media coverup / normalization of pedos. I'm forced to consider guys like Thompson when seeing stories claiming "hoax" and "fake news".
