I have issues with the government just wholesale collecting tons of data on random people. The idea of a police state seems to go strictly against the ideas of individual freedoms and liberties -- China being the dystopian end game of what that could look like when the government has too much power to watch over people.

I very much understand that not utilizing scanners is going to make tracking bad people harder; those are risks I'm willing to take in the interest of individual freedoms.

But the plate reader picked it up just by driving by my van at the pump. Yep, had one walk to me while I was pumping gas and told me my inspection was overdue, smiled and walked back to his car, pulling radar duty.

Yes it recognizes shapes that’s why they want to change back to high contrast plates.

I'm not advocating anything illegal but I have seen these types of polarized license plate covers for sale online. Also, I believe in NYS it is illegal to have any sort of cover on your license plate.
