Registration reopened for AWs in NY ?

In the text the seller states that registration is open once again on the safest website as this rifle is not compliant.

I checked the safact site and it does indeed appear that we can register ( do not know why a regular Joe ( non LEO or .gov personel) would want to.

The only guns that you can register now are regular pistols on a permit and antique long guns that are over 50 years old that have features like an old M1 Carbine and are considered an AW.

Owners of "assault weapons" who chose to register them are required to 'recertify' their registration, just as pistol permit holders are required to 'recertify' their pistol permits. Could could this be the what's going on? Perhaps the website is open for recertification, rather than for new registrations.

There are at least a couple gun shops in NY that will sell me a Beretta CX4 Storm. They just fill in the thumbhole with a kydex grip wrap and it's good to go. I plan on getting one this spring.

Question... Why would you get this particular carbine with the stock filled in so that you can't get a proper purchase on the weapon when there are other pistol caliber carbines of better quality that are NY legal that allow you to hold it one handed?

I mean there are many instances where you will need to hold it one handed. Opening doors, picking something up with your other hand, reloading while moving quickly, searching a criminal on the ground, ect.

Simple answer? Because I can.

I mean there are many instances where you will need to hold it one handed. Opening doors, picking something up with your other hand, reloading while moving quickly, searching a criminal on the ground, ect.

The Beretta weighs less than my VEPRs and I can hold them one handed. Hi-point and Kel-Tec also have to have a grip wrap in this state. I like that the Beretta is the shortest of all the 9mm carbines. I also think it is better quality.

I plan on moving out of this state in a few years anyway, so the grip wrap can come off.

But mostly, because I can.

A thumb is the most important digit of a hand when it comes to gripping something. Without it, the grip is weak. It's there but weak.

RE-registration, meaning you already registered prior to the deadline after the SAFE Act was passed, and are re-upping the registration.

You can't buy a fully featured AR today and register it now.
