Stuck shotgun choke

I have a brand new DP 12 and I am trying to remove the chokes to replace them. I have bent 2 removal tools, (granted they are not the best) but my goodness these things are tight. I tried the kind of tool that you insert in the choke, expand the insert, and then turn the handle and it does not work. Any suggestions?

First thing is to have a quality hardened steel choke removal driver (something good to have anyway)

Heat it up with a torch very so slightly, it should not be hotter than a big run of loads. Nothing that will damage the blue or finishing, only provide some dilatation of the tube. Try with the tool. if that doesn't do it then heat up again and then soak in kroil for a day or so.

If that doesn't do the trick then use the tool with an impact driver in the minimum setting back and forth.
Even a drill impact with vibration is all you need and nothing that has so much torque at once that will damage something.
Going slowly with the minimum setting to start and patience is key here.

If that doesn't work then you will need to clamp the tubes in a vise and for that you will need spuds made to the precise ID of the barrel
and then the clamps cut for the precise OD of the barrel so they can go into the vise otherwise you will damage the tubes.
Then when everything is well secured and using the steel hardened choke removal with the impact driver give it more torque gradually.
It will come off.

Otherwise take to a smith and make sure they do not damage anything following the above procedure.

Manufactures do goofy things.
Metal galling or rust can be a bitch so make sure you clean well all threads in the area and use some grease or anti-seize next time.

:oops: stupid question have you previously removed chokes if not are you turning in correct direction :idk: and yes for using Kroil and lightly tapping with brass or plastic hammer :smash:

It is new. Never fired. I have never tried to remove the chokes before. Turning the chokes counter clockwise. Going to get a good removal tool tomorrow, I hope. Will try all of the methods mentioned above. Thanks

Those tools are a big risk and waste of $s, only when it it easy to remove/put and all one might do is to damage the chokes.
If one has 4 points one should use a quality 4 points tool.
It is sad manufacturers are not providing the proper tools with their gungs.

why the hell does the dp12 have choke tubes to begin with . . LOL

cyl bore .. run cut shells if you only have birdshot shells ..
