I wk see what kind of protection they are referring to. I’ll bet it’s not a firearm. Crazy that the one women tried to choke it and commented on how muscular it is. Makes sense but something you do t always think about. Upholstering your weapon and a few 9mm rounds to the chest would work very well.

Basically the same theory as .22lr for self defense. It might not be a reliable man stopper, but if you're going to have to defend yourself in a street brawl with some miscreant, it isn't going to hurt if he's been peppered up nicely with some first.

I don't think the fur does much, it's the muscle and fat. Those big animals have more muscle between the fur and anything important than a human has in their entire body.

And as with everything terminal ballistics, shot placement is king.

I have no doubt that a 9mm is sufficient to kill a cougar, but the tolerance for shot placement is much tighter with the 9mm than it would be a 10mm

He'll, you'd have a chance with just a .22lr, just not as much of a chance as you would with a .300 win mag.
