Tactical Flashlight Retention

I have a Surefire that I use with combat rings and a Streamlight that I use with a lanyard.
Both systems have their pros and cons.
I would like to know which system do you prefer and why.

Yes. I shoot. Alot.

But i shoot with various firearms.

None of my flashlights really “shoot”....but the do light up.

Edit to add: most here are keyboard commandos.

Yup. My observation as well. Dont expect to get much serious gun talk here.......you will get serious shit talking though......

I shoot a lot. But not with flashlights.

Lots of keyboard commandos and link posters on gun boards these days. I don’t have a tactical flashlight so I didn’t respond to this thread when it was posted. I do have a light mounted on a couple of guns. I really don’t like flashlights on guns but I have a couple to try out. I seriously doubt they ever get used until the shooting has stopped.

I was taught that an assailant will fire at the light when it is switched on. I was also taught to hold the light with the nonfiring hand away from the body when switching it on. So in that respect a weapon mounted light goes against my training.

My house has a lot of night lights in it so the use of a flashlight is not really needed when moving around in the house. When I need more light I have a lot of magnetic base led lights attached to things in the house. Just one can light up a room.

Overseas, I have a helmet mounted light and a chest mounted light as well as NVG. If I need light at night it is usually red or blue(NVG compatible).

Are used to use a keyboard. But now I cannot. Even with my fat boy pants, I cannot get the keyboard in my pocket.

So now are use the phone. Wait to you see what my dictation software says. That’s always creative.

I am with @dsdmmat I don’t have weapon mounted lights. When I used to shoot night matches I had a light mounted on my pistol.

I no longer shoe dedicated night matches. When my local pistol shoot does the mat night I bring a handheld light.

Other than that I don’t have a light on my person at anytime. There is always some ambient light available. If the need ever arose, everybody will be in very close proximity so it should be an easy task light or no light.

Tactical handgun training was similar. I have no tactical lights or lasers mounted on handguns. My Home Defense long guns have surefire tactical lights mounted in case a need arises and a free hand is not available. Even with an HD long gun, I will be carrying a BUG and another unmounted tactical light.

I promoted it. I encourage people to come, but these keyboard commando that never shoot, never showed up. Only 2-3 guys from the forum ever showed.

I even bring suppressed select fire weapons for people to play with. They still don’t come.
