36 Trillion in debt means we are slaves and something has to be done. It's unsubstainable. People should be livid that 40-50% of all your income goes to some form of tax.

He was ranked very highly in the polls for the economy and how he handled it over Biden. However most people won’t see the potential long term gains nor do I feel they will be here by the time the midterms come around. Keep in mind none of the tariff deals are even done or signed yet and won’t be for months most likely. The UK deal is a framework at best and covers only a few commodities. Onshoring jobs and factories will take years but if there are some good signs then maybe.
I feel like for the most part Trump is delivering what he ran on and is doing a good job with most things. If he can broker the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia that would be huge but prices need to come down or at least stabilize. The cost of things are what everyone I talk to brings up. Kids these days have no future because buying a house and caretakers $300,000 to get anything descent.

What does doing well mean? I can’t read the article because the paywall but what I hear from everyone is the cost of goods are too high and it will impact the economy at some point. People talk to said we’re cutting back on going out to eat because food prices are killing them. Look at housing prices and vehicle prices, you’re looking at $300,000 for descent house and a car. Kids see no future and that won’t help. Trump ran on bringing down prices not increasing prices to onshore jobs and factories. People want relief not more opportunities to work because anyone working already is. I get this could cause wages to rise if there is a worker shortage but by how much, likely a few percentage points and will people onshore factories of there are no workers here for them or will they keep them in China or India where there are tons of people willing to work. It’s complex.

POTUS can get it rolling and implemented on his own. But then its up to congress to make it an actual law. That's the difficult part, since so many of them would be voting against their own self-interest. But the fact that it has very low or zero chance of Congress actually making it permanent doesnt mean Trump should just not bother with the EO.

to be honest I haven't really seen much change in prices.
Gas prices out here haven't changed since Sleepy Joe's reign. Egg prices may be down a few cents, but that's all. Even the non-essentials haven't changed too much, maybe a percent or two more for Lego.
Vehicle prices have been dropping since the covid scam ended and since the "chip shortage" b.s. ended. Dealerships are cutting deep deals (supposedly) to get rid of overstock.
And housing prices in NY have been an issue for far longer than Trump has been in office...either time!
The preferences I have to buy a house would cost, AT MINIMUM, ~$350k. But, due to NY taxes (property+school), I can only afford up to $200k. That'll get me a 2 bed 2 bath 1500 sq. ft. house with no yard and no garage and perpetual monthly payments of almost $1000/mo even after the mortgage is paid off.

I buy from an egg farm, where the eggs are still warm when I buy them. 1.5 months ago, we were paying ~$15/flat (30 eggs/flat). Last week I paid $5/flat. So the prices have come way down, but it may take a bit before that is reflected in grocery store prices.

That wasn’t a knock at what Trump has done and I wasn’t saying Trump made prices increase. I agree I have t seen an increase and what I’ve been hearing isn’t new to Trump but just in general. Trump did promise to bring prices down and I hope he’s successful at that and I think that needs to be number one priority along with the budget. I think he realizes that and is focused on those things.
Gas prices are great and I’d be happy if they stayed where they are at. Food prices, cars and houses are too high. Cars and home prices will kill you these days. I’d love to move in a few years but the interest rates and home prices are making that an impossibility. I haven’t seen a house I’d move to for under $600,000 and I just can’t do that. I make good money with my wife but I can’t and won’t be house poor and that would accomplish that.
Housing prices are hard for a president to impact but the vehicle prices are becuase of greed, safety features, and environmental regulations. Add in tariffs possibly and vehicle prices are nuts.

so far I've figured the minimum house I would accept would cost ~$350k in NY. Good luck finding one for that price, and good luck being able to buy it.
There was one quite near me that would have been perfect. It listed for $350k, sold for $365k. Houses and land are getting snapped up faster than you can blink out here (land mostly for developers of solar farms).
If I were to move to Arizona it would have to be in the mountains where temps are closer to what I see in NY.You are 100% buying a house in the wrong state.

My mom said they've been building new housing tracts like crazy where they are. In the years since my dad died the place went from a respectable sized city to a Phoenix suburb. Traffic is a mess out there now. And they are still building!

Yea, I would not move to Phoenix or the vicinity.
Both of those places I posted are over 3500' elevation. Temps are much more reasonable.
And water is local. The fact that the supply on the Colorado River is stretched thin doesn't affect another source.
I have a well, it produces 25gpm of good quality water. I am also the top house on the mountain, so my source is the rain that falls on it. Basically physics and hydrology give me first dibs.

Same here. I’m not really looking at this point and time because I’d move farther out to the country and my kids go to college in two opposite directions so it would likely make both or one a very long drive. I do t want to do that right now. Not sure it will make sense to move in 5+ years but we will see. My back and neck are not doing well either so not sure it makes sense to move to have more land and more work. Plus if I bought o would only want to take a small mortgage so that would mean coming up with $400,000-$450,000 cash and not sure how feasible that is but it is possible for us to do if we really wanted to.
Then again I could consider the right house with less acreage than I desire with more than I have now and get something for $150-$200 less and that solves a lot of issue except not seeing neighbors. A lot will depend on what happens with the house across the street and next to me between now and my kids college graduation. Then I would need 4-5 years to save enough cash for a down payment. At 50 I’m not mortgaging $400,000. Along stay where I’m at within reason I can have any toy I want and take pretty regular vacations when the kids are done with college.

And I'm sure whoever they are protecting is also the reason the "epstein files" will never see the light of day, and no arrests will come. DC is and always has been nothing but theatrics, everybody is involved, I am of the belief that Trump is nothing more than another actor. And if he's not, he's the only one and hanging our hopes on one man changing things is just plain stupid. I am done with "just be patient, justice is coming, these things take time". The system cant be changed using the system to try and effect such deep changes. Its over, we lost a long time ago.
