Education Law §224(1)(a) and 8 NYCRR §3.29: Use of the terms “college” and “university” are generally restricted to institutions chartered by the BOR or the Legislature. The Commissioner may consent to the use of the terms for for-profit institutions provided certain requirements are met.

Trump was operating Trump University in NY. In NY it is illegal to call your institution a university unless it meets specific guidelines, which DOES need to include offering accredited degrees. IE. You can't advertise yourself as a university unless you offer accredited degrees (which is part of being chartered). He also did not have consent from the SED commissioner.

Trump falsely ran a university that did not meet legal requirements to be a university in the jurisdiction he was running said university. Pretty clear cut case of defrauding the consumer, which is not surprising for a man of his low moral character.

He was only defrauding people if he was advertising a product or service he wasn’t delivering.

Did he promise accredited degrees ?

Did anyone pay him expecting an accredited degree and not get one ?

At worst the misuse of the term "university" would have caused some people to inquire about a degree and be told "no, we don’t do that".

Hardly the "Bernie Madoff" fraud you are suggesting.

However, Richard Rubin from the Wall Street Journal found a much more interesting nugget: in 2017 and 2018, Joe Biden and his wife ran $13 million of profits through two subchapter-S corporations. In so doing, they avoided $500,000 in Social Security and Medicare taxes they would have paid if they instead reported the income as sole proprietors directly on their 1040 income tax returns.

That’s because profits from an “S-corp” are subject to federal income tax, but not to the Social Security and Medicare tax. This is not true for sole proprietors, who are liable for both layers of tax in full

To be clear, the use of S-corps is a perfectly legal tax avoidance strategy deployed commonly in family businesses across the country. It is not tax evasion, but it most certainly is a tax strategy — and if one takes Biden’s history on the matter seriously, it's a tax strategy he thinks is a loophole.

To be equally clear, Joe Biden is a hypocrite for using S-corporations in this way for at least four reasons. This is, after all, a man who said that paying more in taxes was a “patriotic act.”

actually, if you had a month to do nothing but read the tax code, there is no way ANYONE could send in a 1040, and not break a tax law. It is literally 27,000 pages of law? any auditor could find 'something wrong' with every single return, it can't be avoided

The question was asked and I provided an answer. A lot of people do side work through an LLC. If you think dissolving a LLC to go another direction isn't believable then I don't know what to tell you. At the end of the day, if you don't want to believe me that's your choice.

Also, if you look at the extraordinary assets owned by me, which the Fake News hasn’t, I am extremely under leveraged - I have very little debt compared to the value of assets. Much of this information is already on file, but I have long said that I may release Financial Statements, from the time I announced I was going to run for President, showing all properties, assets and debts. It is a very IMPRESSIVE Statement, and also shows that I am the only President on record to give up my yearly $400,000 plus Presidential Salary!
