Shut down the government during x-mas? That's the best thing that could happen. We all know when the gov't 'shuts down' all it means is a paid vacation. Everyone leaves their office. Not allowed to return to work. Don't get paid.....until they return to work and collect their salary from the time they were locked out.

I say don't shut down the gov't, do the exact opposite. Don't allow the senators, congressmen and their staff to have their holiday hiatus. Make them work just like the rest of the damn country does, right through the holidays. THEN you'll see some compromise.
