And I do think they are enough of a *global* threat that we needed to act. Probably should have decades ago.

But, the Houthis, Hezzbollah, and Hamas are all effectively irregular arms of the Iranian military. You don't see *any* of them as a major threat to US interests ?

That being said netanyahu and the state of israel are no saints. They play dirty because they exist in the middle of a region that would gladly see them wiped off the face of the earth. Probably a quarter of all Muslims in the region would like to see them destroyed and the rest would be indifferent at best if it happened.
Their backs are against the wall every day 24/7. So they respond in kind. Forget the Russians and Chinese. The Israelis probably run the largest and most sophisticated spying operations against the US. They knowingly kill women and children (but the arabs purposely put them in harms way by placing legitimate military targets in civilian locations).
I wish they weren't there but the fact remains they are and they aren't going anywhere without a fight. They don't control this country but they have an outsized influence on our foreign policy that is obvious to anyone with eyes.
I don't know how this ends and I am concerned we have not anticipated Iran's determination to play a long drawn out war. One can be critical of our support for the israelis and their conduct against us but only a fool would prefer to see iran dominate the middle east.
