Iran has been the primary source of middle Eastern strife since Saddam fell. They're behind 90% of what goes on.
While I'm never in favor of fighting other people's wars for them, it is absolutely in America's interests to have the middle east not be such a shit show.
So much of global trade flows through those waters, it very much causes major problems for us.
And while the loss of 4 American servicemen is terrible, in the long term this will probably save many more than that. How many have we lost to Iranian backed terror in the last 20 years ?
