They can spin that shit all they like, but the jobs that create real growth are jobs that create things and especially those that increase exports. Umm...like China?

While we have cut a lot of civilian positions from the Delayed resignation program, it was a reduction by axe, not really helpful at all.

The worker got to decide to take a 8 or 11 month paid vacation without our Commanders having any input. Creating shortages in critical fields.

I wish they would have made it easier for us to remove people for underperformance instead of letting anyone who wanted to go just go. I lost some really good people while the the ones who needed to go stayed on.

Not all jobs are unnecessary or created for "LIFERS" (although ALL the higher ups were "Double Dippers") I worked in a Maintenance Facility that kept a City Sized Fleet of Vehicles and Equipment on the Road, Repaired Military Vehicles/Equipment the Soldiers could not, Maintained all the Airfield equipment from String Trimmers to Roll-over Snow Plows used to clear the Runways...We EARNED our Money and Pay was less than what most mechanics made in Town, we DID have a lot of Federal Holidays, good benefits, and options for a decent retirement.

It’s bad because I see things sitting. Car dealer lots are full, campers, boats things like that are sitting. Sales and deals abound because people aren’t spending money. Inflation has become under control and I’m thankful for that but people are still short on free cash. People losing their jobs, student loan repayments restarting will take a lot of free capital out of the market. It will be interesting to see what happens with the economy as a result. Housing market here is still good but in many places it is cooling as well. Jobs reports aren’t as good as they have been so many signs the economy is turning for the worse. Is it Trumps fault? No not really but you know how people will see it.

I don't think we will see spending on luxury items like we did during the china virus too soon. Interest rates are too high and the gubment isn't shelling out large amounts of money to folks. Although there are deals to be had. Some reluctance might be consumer confidence, but that seems to be somewhat steady. I'm sure it's a lot of factors.

Real estate has basically become a luxury as prices are super inflated and interest rates are still outrageous. Smart money has been put into the markets, crypto and metals. All of which are "hot" and easy to enter.
I don't dwell on the results of these federal employees losing their jobs. Especially if it really wasn't a necessary job in the first place. Biden used fictitious jobs to bolster his employment numbers and seat DEI and friendly people in these positions to push the new green deal BS. There are plenty of good, honest private sector jobs out there. All one needs to do is look.

My son is a PT and has some college debt outstanding. He has set aside money to repay his loans even when repayment was on hold. Failure to plan is planning to fail. My other son has a Masters and has repaid all of his loans early. Both are 30ish. A smart sense of value and a good financial adviser are mandatory to get by until things settle down and new markets, etc. emerge.

Playing with the interest rate is always a tricky thing. I think it’s time to start cutting the interest rates slowly.
The low hiring data could simply be who wants to work is working. I don’t know anyone looking for work outside of college or high school students. Just saying this will be portrayed as a negative for Trump.

That’s cool. I’m surprised you got them. My kids got turned down for most they applied for because they are white and we make too much money. My first son applied for about 10-15 of them and was denied for all of them but two. One was supposed to be $500, but the place decided to make it two $250 ones and it took my son literally going to the place 3-4 times to get the check and waiting months. The other one was through my union for $500 and that was a breeze.
I found it awfully odd that his guidance counselor told him about none of the scholarships and yet the daughter of the school resource officer knew about all of them and received nearly 90% of the scholarships awarded on the awards and scholarship night.
We thought my youngest would get some for his medical and ADHD diagnosis but nope. Neither of my kids wanted to write a ton of essays either after losing a lot of scholarships. I had heard this is possible but always kind of doubted it was feasible. Maybe it’s not and I should see if they can go for some more of them.
Oh sorry my oldest did get a $1,000 one from UB and was awarded a $4,000 scholarship but he had to work for it 20 hours a week for 8 weeks. Not complaining because it’s good money but I consider it more of an internship than a scholarship.
