Me questions the "God's" part. Creatures... yes.

I've been fascinated with raptors all my life. From the diminutive little Kestrel to the mighty Eagle, and everything in between. I'm against the Barred Owl culling, plain and simple. If the Barred is threatening the Northern Spotted Owl, the NSO will move into other areas. That's what nature does.

Remember a few years ago when the gubb'rmnt declared that old growth forests in the NW could no longer be harvested because the old growth forests were the only habitat the Northern Spotted Owl occupied or existed? Then sometime after fucking with the logging industry, Northern Spotted Owls were found thriving in replanted forest areas, areas replanted by the logging industry.

Having "hunters" kill off the Barred Owls? It will be a total cluster fuck. Some of the dumb fuckers will be shooting at every owl they see, and will prolly take down hawks as well, then tell the DEC guy "oh darn... sorry, I thought it was a Barred Owl".

Owls are protected. but the Barred Owl is an invasive species, and typical of a .gov press release, they are "aggressive" "territorial" "destroying the habitat" etc. just pick a buzz word and you'll likely find it in their press release. In the West, Northwest they're considered invasive, and I believe that's where the push to eradicate them lies.
Not sure how they're going to kill a half million, I wonder how many Hunting Licenses are sold (equating the number of Hunters) and of those only a small percentage will fuck up their Hunt by blasting a Bird with a Shotgun, especially one not too likely to be eaten, even then, are they going to require non-toxic Shot? That shit's expensive!
I don't know how NYS is going to treat it, or even if they care, but I don't want to get "checked" with a bunch of dead owls in the back of my Truck.

I will never shoot an owl. Funny thing is if I wanted one as a pet they would tell me no but it’s ok to kill them

Im not sure how they consider Barred owls as "invasive".
USUALLY invasive is when flora or fauna show up in areas where they would not naturally be able to spread without human intervention.
Like Starlings come from Europe by way of sailing ships decades ago.
Without humans ships, the Starlings would not be here.
A 3000 mile move across the USA is completely natural for a fast flying bird.
Animals have migrated and dispersed across the land for millions of years and is absolutely natural. As their food sources dwindle, they move to a new area.
It was just a matter of time for the owls.
Like the wolves are moving from the North and Midwest to the South and East.
The Eastern coyote is moving further West.
Whether due to natural climate change or food sources, many animals spread.
This has happened long before humans.
