I've heard that people applying to upgrade to "full carry" in Westchester are being required to meet with a judge before approval. What's that about?
Is the "good character" question still an issue? I'd thought that Bruen made states "shall issue."

Thats why i didn't apply for my pistol permit at 21, it seemed like too much of a pain in the ass. Once i had my eyes open, i said screw their intentionally painful process Im doing it anyway.

EXACTLY! The $500 class, is the 16hr course, that includes 2 hours of live fire. You have to pass w/ a 70 or higher the final exam and hit 4 out of 5 @ the range, in order to get the certificate required to apply. Then, After the nightmare of taking care of all the paperwork for submission, you have to then go to the pistol licensing division, in White Plains. It can take a year or more to get an appointment for that, but I wound up buttering up the receptionist and she got me in right away. So, in return, I brought her a box of Krispy Creme's and a coffee. lol
Once the officer approves your paperwork, it then has to go from that office, over to the judicial system. A judge then first decides (after sitting on their desk for months), if they will even take your case. Once they do, you are given a court date to appear before the judge for questioning. Then you have to wait for the judge's approval or not, which comes in the mail. You really have to "stick to your guns" (pun intended) in Westchester and see it through 100%, to get it done. Once I did, it was and felt like a great achievement.

It took 2.5 weeks from when check was cashed to get my permission slip.
Living in Delaware County, all I have to do for an amendment is send a check to the pistol clerk for as many purchase coupons as I want, at $3 for each coupon, take the coupon to the gun store where I have found a pistol, pass the NYST check, pay for the gun, bring the gun home and I have 10 days to send the coupon to the pistol clerk with the pertinent information regarding the gun store and handgun. It has never taken more than a week for me to get the amended permit sent to my mail box.
