Whats up everyone? I just recently joined the forum and im loving the amount of info to be read on here! I wanted to see about getting input on holsters.I own a Springfield XDS 3.3” .40 cal and the holster i bought about 7 months just isnt working.Too bulky and very comfortable.Whats everyone using or recommend? Thanks

I'm a big fan of hybrid holsters . I started with an alien gear and loved it. I went through a few kydex iwb holsters and I'm back with a hybrid. I'm currently using a alien gear cloak tuck 1.0 I modified for appendix carry I carry a cz p07 not a small or light pistol all day long with no issues at all I forget its there. Holsters are gonna be a very personal thing depending on your body type pant size and where you wear them. I cannot carry outside the waistband I've tried and i hate it. I can always feel the pistols weight there inside the waist and I have no problem.

I’ve been through Desantis, N82, custom leather Durbin, Kustomconcealment (nice owb), onyoursixdesigns (nice simple no frills iwb), and finally found my favorite by knightfallcustoms.

I tried a claw recently on a single clip appendix holster it workes great but the holster would cant when I bent over and the claw kept popping out of my belt . I have a belly so that seems to be an issue with the claw . I want to try out a wedge . but to be honest if I'm worried about printing in a tighter shirt I carry a shield and it doesn't print at all.

N82 are very comfy but they take up a lot of real estate They are thick. I much prefer the thin kydex now. Also I found having to do that little twist with your pistol to unlock from holster never works right when you need it

Don Hume for the XD40 and Kimber for the Ultra Carry. Both OWB. I don't often carry the ,40 anymore. Kimber is more compact / comfortable.

For my Shield IWB I have a Stealthgear Onyx Mini... very expensive but it is also very comfortable - even in warm temps. (they have a cheaper "Revolution" model I'm still testing to compare) It is still a little bulky but I haven't yet found a better IWB for my usage.

I've tried Appendix, and for short term it's fine, but long-term I don't find it comfortable, and I've tried several different companies.

For OWB I have several different Kydex models. If you're not worried about concealment, Safariland has some great models with active retention (thumb release) - I picked one up for my M&P 2.0 Fullsize (9mm), and it locks in my Compact also. I picked up a TLR-1 model also (been searching for a good light-bearing holster for a while now); it isn't as smooth as the non-light-bearing model (maybe I need to adjust something) but I do like the retention.

Probably my favorite holster is my Milt Sparks Summer Special for my Ruger SR1911; I don't know how well it would work in a non-1911 (since you can lock the slide before holstering), anyone use one with a striker-fired gun? I assume you hold your thumb over the rear of the slide as you carefully holster?

I prefer the DeSantis speed scabbard (w/o thumb break) for OWB. I'm going to give the Aliengear ShapeShift a try when my Glock43 comes in.

Currently for my PPQ I am using a simple kydex OWB holster from ARES Tactical mounted via a Tek Lok for range/training use. For my Shield I am using a Crossbreed Mini Tuck. I will be replacing the Crossbreed with a kydex holster due to hybrid holsters losing retention over time. I also have a DeSantis Speed Scabbard for my PPQ but I don't use it as it prints badly for me.
I will be purchasing a Glock 19 very soon and for that I have already gotten a Blacpoint Tactical Mini Wing. If I like it I will get one for my Shield also. At some point for Range/Class/Comp I will be getting a Safariland ALS holster for the G19 as well.

CYA kydex designed for IWB. it was like $35 on Amazon and I've been very happy with it so far. It's also the only holster I have since I am new to carrying so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I've been carrying mine 3-4 so far so good. If I get motivated I'll take a pic or 2 today or tomorrow

I could carry it AIWB as well if I wanted too.

I use a Galco King Tuk for my 1911, comfortable even with a heavy gun (SS kimber 5") similar to the other hybrids, cost was about 1/2 of most and 5 years daily and going strong. i use a Fobus double mag holder for mags.

I have the XDS in 45. I carry all day, comfortably, in a DeSantis Intruder. My only complaint are the screws for the clips. Although they come packaged with some sort of thread locker, I have had to take them off and use blue locktight on them.

Ok this is me with a pps and the 8rd mag. For comparison the pps with 8rd mag is basically the same grip length as a G19. And I'm not a big guy and can carry it reasonably well right about 330. And this t-shirt in wearing isn't very loose and in person you can't tell anything. My wife doesn't even know when I'm carrying or not unless she's asks or taps my side.


If I'm carrying the longer mags and at like 4-5 o'clock there is a good chance the end of my grip/magazine will stick out if I bend forward so I do have to be aware of that.

If I carry closer to 3oclock with a forward cant then that problem goes away.

Or if I use the 6rd flush mag it's basically invisible anywhere

When I picked up my G43, I ordered a Concealment Express IWB holster because I just needed something in which to carry the gun and the holster was cheap. It turned out to be my favorite holster in the infamous box of holsters that everyone collects over their lifetime. It's sturdy, it's low profile, it doesn't shift on me, and it holds the gun securely - everything a holster is supposed to do.
