The one thing that turned the red wave into a faded pink trickle in the midterm elections was the Dodd decision. The Democrats have been able to turn the Supreme Court decision to send the abortion issue to the individual states into the narrative that Trump singlehandedly took the right to an abortion away from every woman in the US. I deal with 100's of people every week in my job, and I hear hardcore Republican women who voted for Trump the last 2 elections swear they will never vote for him again, for just that reason. Add the oddball statements by Trump's choice for VP, Vance, who wants local police departments to monitor women's menstrual cycles, and we are going to be hard pressed to pull out a victory this election.

I am glad I am 68 years old. I damn sure wouldn't want to be a young man in this country today. There is a part of me, though, that would like to stick around another 20 or 30 years just to see how much more screwed up this country is going to become.

I commented on another forum that I find any kind of quid pro quo, especially in government, as an insidious act, but focusing on on the sex just doesn’t register for me. I don’t carry those same puritanical values, and in any case I place more blame on the power-holder soliciting those favors than I do on the go-getter taking advantage of the opportunity.
