Obviously, Cuomo is PRO-CRIME. He allows illegal immigrants to live here, virtually free of charge. He releases harden criminals from prison. Public safety is so far down the list it's not funny. UNLESS you are a law abiding citizen, THEN he needs to put every imaginal restriction on you he can think of.
Cuomo's thought process is so bizarre it's not funny. How is he allowed to continue being in char.....never mind. I no longer care.

New York’s latest criminal justice reform plan will release suspects accused of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, child sex crimes, and making threats of terrorism without ever having to post bail.

FUAC you have 2 choices .. revoke this or your SAFE-act is null n void ..

Yes.
But bail isn't about innocence or guilt. It's about ensuring that the accused show up to court to participate in the legal process. If you show up when you're supposed to, you get your money back. If you don't, the court can keep it.

How else do you propose ensuring people show up for court?

How can you insure not putting innocents in cages? This can be for months, who insures the innocent still keeps his job , who pays his bills, mortgage? Our system isnt perfect but we are presumed innocent and our jail system is a travesty.

So if you're innocent you should be kept in jail because you don't have the money to bail out? Also, the people that are gonna skip are going to do so no matter what. And conversely people who show are going to do so no matter what. You think someone whos scared of the consequences of not showing up to court for a speeding ticket is going to skip on something more serious? If you're arrested for something serious it should be fast tracked. A speedy trial like it's supposed to be. Not spend months in jail waiting for the justice system to get its shit together. If every damn little thing wasn't illegal the jails wouldn't be flooded and people could actually get a speedy trial.

First, let me state that in a couple weeks when I get my training for Town Justice I'm going to learn more about this. But as it stands this how it was explained to me. If you get arrested, bail ensures you show up to court. Yes, I will readily admit there are issues with that. But under the new laws you can not show up for ANY of your court dates and essentially there's nothing you can do about it. The new laws also force the prosecutor's office to expedite the discovery process and if they don't then the perp walks. Also, principals (they will no longer be called "defendants" now...gotta love the PC terminology) can revisit a crime scene to gather evidence in their defense. Sounds good, but if a woman was raped in her home how is it ok for the accused rapist to go back into her home?

Yes, there are a lot of issues with bail and how the justice system works this is not a solution.

I have gone thru some of the same type of training.... Holy shit, the more they talk about what is going on, the more confused you will be.

Remember, crimi..er..alleged criminals will also have the right to return to the scene of their alleged crimes in order to collect evidence to aid in their defense. Even if it is in your home.

So if you’ve been victimized once by an attacker, you can be victimized again by the system. They can’t come back if they leave in a body bag.

I spent the last two days watching training videos on these new laws. It’s bad. Really bad. Way beyond the bail reform portion. The new discovery rules will make the process from arrest to trial nearly impossible and cause total gridlock in police operations as already thin margins of personnel become taxed with constant court appearances.

...and this is all before defense attorneys figure out a myriad of ways to exploit the laws even further.

This is what happens when perp lovers take over the legislature.

Good luck to those here who care. Congrats I guess to those here who agree with them. I’ve never been more appreciative of my ability to carry nationwide than I am now.

It used to be that I grabbed my gun and put it on my hip only when I left the house.
Now, it's part of my routine every morning when I get dressed. When I walk down the stairs, even before I've had my coffee, it's on my hip. When I'm kicked back in the recliner after work, sitting at the dinner table, watching TV, or walking out to the mailbox or my car, it's on my hip. It's now at the point where I have the "something doesn't feel right" moment when I don't have it - even at home.

Too many people really don't understand the implications of the whole package of "reforms" (both bail and discovery).
