I just got back from a crowded first day at the Hamburg Gun Show in Erie County. Very nice; lots of buying and selling going on.

I have taught over 100 beginners using a Crosman 2240 bolt action single shot .22 pellet pistol. Less than $100, good for 40-50 shots per CO2 cartridge, as accurate at 10 yards as many .22 LR pistols. Not a toy. Fairly powerful. It will shoot through both sides of an empty Campbell soup can (...

CO2 cartridge life after first use depends on the gun. In the Crosman 2240 it stays charged for 24 hours at least. Likely longer. FYI each $1 cartridge is good for 45-55 shots.

For a low cost, accurate pellet pistol you really can't beat the single shot Crosman 2240. This CO2 gun is great for teaching sight picture and trigger control.

This show is usually well attended both days. The Bills game is late on Sunday so the crowd won't be affected.

In a retail store I'd say close to $700-$800 for a nice one.

GOPerfect, I had a MP5 copy in .22 some years ago. I think it was made by GSG. It was an excellent little plinker.

I like the idea of a starter pistol that uses 209 primers. Shot shell primers are much easier to find than .22 blanks.

Another successful Spring gun show at the fairgrounds in Hamburg. Good crowds both days.

I would worry about ignition problems when using a pellet vs. a loose powder load. Also, those pellets are pricey IIRC.

Both Erie County and Niagara County had clerks at the Hamburg show.

I agree with unburnt powder. Be sure you are crimping the bullets tightly. 4.5 grains of 231 and a 125 grain bullet IS a fairly hot load in a 2" lightweight revolver.

That nutcase at the Tops in Buffalo had some sort of plate armor ( not soft armor), so naturally all types MUST be banned. Stupid.

Some states have a law that says (basically) "if it was there before you moved in, then you cannot complain." This keeps the newcomers from starting lawsuits over noise from gun ranges, smells from farms, etc.

I was at their indoor range in Maine last summer. Nice place.

The winter show at the Erie County fairgrounds was well attended. A large crowd on Saturday and still busy on Sunday. Kudos to the team that organized the show.
