Maybe not everyone at the bureau is part of the deep state ?I don't quite understand why if Comey didn't ever want them found he wouldn't have just had them burned? They were after all in burn bags, that would seem to be the intent. I wonder if it's possible someone else stashed them in the hopes they would be discovered at a later time to blow this thing open. OR is Comey really just that stupid? OR is this BS?
When I was in the USN on a couple of occasions I had to deliver burn bags to the base incinerator. At the base I was stationed at it was one of the duties of the JOOD to pick up the bags and deliver them. IIRC this was during morning or afternoon watches while the incinerator was in operation - our JOODs stood 6 hour watches. You had to sign for them and each had a serialized metal tag. The folks at the incinerator recorded the tag numbers and inspected each bag for tampering. That record of receipt then made its way to various points to confirm proper delivery. I think it was also logged in the OOD's logbook. IDR if the folks had foreknowledge of the delivery, but I seem to recall them matching the serial numbers to a list they had. It seemed like it was a pretty secure process.
I'm not sure if it works anywhere near the same way at the FIB as it did on our base back in the 80's. Maybe that's just the difference between real security and paying lip-service to it.
Someone doesn't have the balls to go full whistle blower, but does have enough to preserve the evidence for later ?
