When I was in the USN on a couple of occasions I had to deliver burn bags to the base incinerator. At the base I was stationed at it was one of the duties of the JOOD to pick up the bags and deliver them. IIRC this was during morning or afternoon watches while the incinerator was in operation - our JOODs stood 6 hour watches. You had to sign for them and each had a serialized metal tag. The folks at the incinerator recorded the tag numbers and inspected each bag for tampering. That record of receipt then made its way to various points to confirm proper delivery. I think it was also logged in the OOD's logbook. IDR if the folks had foreknowledge of the delivery, but I seem to recall them matching the serial numbers to a list they had. It seemed like it was a pretty secure process.

I'm not sure if it works anywhere near the same way at the FIB as it did on our base back in the 80's. Maybe that's just the difference between real security and paying lip-service to it.

Someone doesn't have the balls to go full whistle blower, but does have enough to preserve the evidence for later ?

If you're on the naive side of things believing all works just as we were taught and all are white hat wearing good guys, I'd say that was irrational logic. Likewise, if you believe all are DS black hats, I'd say that is equally irrational. Truth is often in the middle, so yeah I'd say it's possible.

A lot more risk in going full whistle-blower than doing something passive aggressive like hiding them hoping for someone else to do the heavy lifting later.

I posted my experience to kind of lay out the mechanics of how it worked for me. The base I worked at was RDT&E. We handled some sensitive stuff and although the process was pretty secure, the delivery was still assigned to the 3rd class Petty Officer standing watch. It was the weakest link in the process.

Comey likely was not walking these bags down to the incinerator himself, that would be beneath him. However it does work at FIB, could very well be that he wanted whatever was to be burned left out of the designated process. Maybe he didn't want any record of it. It's not just about destroying documents, but more about destroying documents that are authorized for destruction. All gov agencies are under obligation to preserve certain documents by law. Some they can destroy. Some mid-level FIB analyst goes off the deep-end and starts sending the contents of his office to the incinerator is going to raise flags, right? The process needs to prevent that possibility too.

So, maybe they were stashed with the intent to be destroyed surreptitiously at some future point that hadn't yet materialized. Or alternatively, someone else stashed them instead.

I honestly believe that most of the people working in those agencies are good people with honest intentions.

But the way the systems are compartmentalized they are designed for a small number of malevolent actors to keep the whole thing running.

Just like the Nazi death machine. It took tens of thousands of people to keep Auschweitz running.

But only a handful actually turned on the gas in the showers.

The vast majority of those people wouldn't have been willing to do that. But they would say "i'm just a train conductor" and were blind to what was really going on.

Even most of the guards were the same sort of people we have as corrections officers today. They didn't see themselves as committing atrocities, just "doing their job" and "guarding the prisoners".

So runs the deep state. A building with 1000 people working in it only needs a handful of actual deep state agents in key positions to subvert the function of the whole organization.

I must disagree strongly here. I think there are very few people with honest intentions. Perhaps a few who see which way the wind is now blowing.

To expand a bit upon my past comment....if Comey *did* want these documents left out of the designated process, and not recorded, that would have presented the ideal scenario for someone to stash them with less risk since there would be no verification of their destruction back to Comey. Comey left himself exposed.

I wonder if they've done any forensics on these documents, to prove who handled them. At the very least, I would think mishandling of classified documents charges could be brought. Preserving evidence seems like Criminal Justice 101. I hope Bongino and Patel were at least that bright. But never underestimate stupid.

Along with a litany of related charges, from conspiracy related ones to those about perverting the course of justice.

Watch the previous post. Things have to go slowly. If mistakes are made .. these people will walk. .... Many of the most powerful people in this country tried to take trump out... If a case is made against them it has to be air tight. How this will work one goes after lower ranking people in washington. . They turn states evidence against the higher -ups.. One reason is lawyers cost a lot of money. .. Now these folks have more money than you and I for certain... But it would take a lot of money just showing up in court.
Right now more things are being discovered every week. Be patient ....

And if they are releasing information on this "evidence" in the media and not in a court of law then it's all a show.

We're almost eight months into Trump's second term. I have yet to see any significant player arrested. Just the endless "look over here! Look how much we're winning!" while things go on pretty much as they were before.

I'm tired of the games. I'm tired of the bullshit. And I'm tired of my rights STILL being infringed, with no actual end in sight.

I want to see arrests, or I have no reason to vote next year.

Being upset that they appear to be sitting on their thumbs having a private circle-jerk instead of actually doing what they promised is very petulant. it is unreasonable to think SOMEONE could have been arrested in EIGHT FUCKING MONTHS. We just have to wait for them to gather every shred of evidence before doing anything. Who cares if there is already enough to put someone away for years. gotta make sure every last drop is collected before moving.
I guess they'll come out for the mid-terms and beg for more time to collect everything. They're REAL CLOSE now. They'll get someone SOON.
Then after Trump's term is up, they'll beg that we vote for their next guy so HE can do the job they promised. That'll teach 'em!

Just remember. The ONLY reason Trump won as significantly as he did was because the Dems managed to piss of their own voter base enough for them to vote red. Without the fence sitters we'd be listening to Cackling Kumquat try to prove how awesome she was.
And if those fence sitters feel like they've been had...guess what's next? A fucking BLOODBATH at the midterms and almost NO chance of any of the usual slimy GoP'ers getting in next term. I don't see any republicans having the charisma to grab the Country by the balls like Trump did.

All they need to do is arrest someone who isn't just a low-level lacky. There's plenty to choose from (personally I would nominate der eyebrows fuhrer and her walrus handmaiden...but I'm biased).

I've been lied to by both parties since I learned what politics are. It's put up or shut up time.

NY AG Letitia James' very own signature is on multiple fraudulent documents.
I'm not a legal scholar, but that seems like low-hanging fruit to me. And that investigation ended up as a nothing burger, as always. I think I and others have a good reason to be skeptical at this point.
