Weather is good in April to shoot, I would join then. The membership is good Jan 1 - dec 31. U don’t get a discount for joining halfway through the year.
Leatherstocking can get expensive if u plan on bringing family. I think I pay $120 for the family plan. North sportsman club is $60 for the family. Leatherstocking is 5 mins away from me if that.
It would be fun to make it a day up there. I would be more than happy to get 600 yards. I will read up on the membership stuff and see what is up.
Google maps says it’s permanently closed? Kinda weird
I forgot in my previous post about a doing a hunting rifle, I would choose a different cartridge. I don’t want to get beat up with a supermagnum in a light weight rifle lol. Any suggestion on a good 7mm cartridge? I have a 7mm rem mag
I have everything for reload I think besides the 338 Lapua dies, I’m not going to start with the 338 Lapua. I’ll start smaller first.

Couple gunsmith I might go with. U can see what cartridges they offer or I could just pick up a desert tech kit. Eurooptics has a desert tech 338 Lapua barrel on sale

My current club has no restrictions that I know of on cartridge size, a club I will probably be joining next year on restricts the 50 bmg. No steel at either clubs.
Contemplating on getting a 338 Lapua barrel for my desert tech srs a-1. I know ammo is expensive but can be found some what local to me. I don’t reload yet. I was also looking at the 300 Norma mag, I have a 300 win mag barrel and not sure if there is enough of a difference to justify the 300...
Most of my experience, which is none lol, comes with friends that have had older ones. Some loved them, some didn’t but they all said the accuracy wasn’t that great. That is my reason for not considering them for myself. In recent years, I have read a lot of positives about the newer stuff.
