That is because there is NO system in NY to notify FFL's, at least that I know of. The ATF has one, by phone and email. Most everything on a state basisis is a secret. I called the permit division in Albany a few weeks back, got the PC answer, it is being worked on. That is really helpful and I...
Subsonic, do you run a store? You have a better grasp on this than most. I have spent several hours of my life reading the "laws" set out. The one impacting FFL's, S4970A, which takes effect in Dec has far reaching impacts on gun holders and FFL's alike. Since I have a dog in this fight I have...
Sigh, no like I said, based on what I have read. GOA seem to be focusing on handgun legislation. No fixation and why, even if there was, do you have to be so grumpy about it? This is a crap sandwich no matter how you slice it.
Another facet is that no one under 18 is suppsed to hunt or even posses a firearm. I am thinking that will rule out all school trap teams as most kids are under 18 , plus the blurb about sporting events being a "safe space". I am reading bill passed 7/2 quickly but this has been a topic of...
Bill A10503 was signed June 6th, takes effect 90 days, 9/6/22. Still no word on what to do as there is no permit process available and won't be for some time.
ETA effective date is 9/4.
Counties do vary greatly but they all have a permit process for handguns. The fact we even have to think...
I am very curious, supposedly the bills passed 7/2 are against the state constitution as they went thru in 24 hours rather than the minimum 72 hours. If those could be taken off the table it would relieve some of my stress level. I heard tell courts were on vacation.
"A license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver, or to purchase or take possession of a semiautomatic rifle,......."
To take possession of is a broad statement. It also means no more sales.
I believe it is A10503 that was signed. Read it and have a cardiovascular workout, I am still trying...
Speculation aside, is there any info about law suits against this crap that anyone has seen? I know what I believe SHOULD happen but so far that is not happening. This state does not seem to care about the SC, law, even the state constitution. Meanwhile time is ticking along to 9/6.
I referenced the bill number. Signed into law June 6th. Needs to go away as it is a registry and almost as bad as the handgun legislation. Then there is the crap that gun dealers have to do starting in December. Again, not good.
I cannot find anything on this. Lawsuit, injunction, anything? There is no way to comply with it by 9/6.
#10503 in case anyone wants to read the crap. Please note the wording listed multiple times "purchase or take possession of a semiautomatic rifle". Take pssosseion, five minutes, lifetime...
I hope NYSRPA is taking on the "law" (A10503) which requires a license for a semi rifle and the "law" (S4970A) which has huge overreach on any person walking into a gun store. I have mostly heard about the justified outrage against the handgun permit business.
Can you elaborate a bit more on this? I honestly do not remember a case that has had such a personal impact on me as this one. It has been many years since I studied the court system process.

Short article. Notice her use of "a public health crisis". "Insanity" is thrown out for good measure.
I tried to watch it, I just couldn't. The jist of what I did hear is she is throwing more money out. I am still looking for a synopsis. I noticed comments were turned off, imagine that.
What a lot of people are missing is that the regulations on FFL's are so onerous and will carry an expense of TIME and money, that many will give up. The way I am reading S51001 is it basically outlaws all gun and ammo sales without "permission", $$ and shit ton of paperwork. That includes...

For anyone too lazy to google. Transcript here.
My apologies, this has made me really grumpy. The problem I have is if we close, I am giving in. If we stay open I gotta comply or face an orange jumpsuit. 98% of our customers are good people and this is shitting on all of them. Some of the guys coming in have had a handgun permit longer than I...
I am not sure what is funny about any of this crap. I am trying to figure out HOW to stay in business. I also swear the next guy that comes in here and says, "I have my guns, I am good!" I am going to slug!
And this:
One of the new NY laws requires all FFL's to send in a list, twice a year, of all guns acquired, sold, when sold, to whom with make model and serial number. A monthly inventory is dictated.
The law also states that ANY firearm brought in for gunsmithing be logged. This list of make...
Then there is this:
12. Records required of gunsmiths and dealers in firearms. [Any] IN
ADDITION TO THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN ARTICLE THIRTY-NINE-BB OF THE
GENERAL BUSINESS LAW, ANY person licensed as gunsmith or dealer in
firearms shall keep a record book approved as to form...
Ok, I skipped some pages.
As to the two year storage for FFL, has to be done by an "approved source" and able to be centraly monitored.
2. THE DEALER'S BUSINESS PREMISES SHALL BE SECURED BY A SECURITY ALARM
SYSTEM THAT IS INSTALLED AND MAINTAINED BY A SECURITY ALARM OPERATOR
PROPERLY...
Since you have a client and seem personally vested, I hope the money end is taken care of. I hope to see a SHIT TON of lawsuits against the mess we have had thrown out against personal ownership of firearms and ammunition.
When I had my ATF interview that was exactly true. No NICS for a state requirement for ammo. With the ATF changes, who knows, I take nothing for granted now.
I took one law, Bill s4970a, and called Albany. There are no details available. "Working on it". NOT ONE SINGLE question was answered. I...
Gov. Herr Botox Hochul, imho, has already circumvented the SC decision with the new batch of laws she signed. In particular, #s4970a which establishes a long gun registry and #A10503 which adds to that with the licensure requirements for 21 yo for semi auto rifles. I cannot read thru the whole...
Canning is a wonderful thing. One way to preserve food with a minimul amount of energy. One can use a wood stove if needed to can, gas fired heater, etc.
Ball Blus Book and look up Jackie Clay's canning book (Backwoods Home Magazine). Her book and column are excellent. Her and her husband...
A complete lower or stripped will have to be sent to an FFL and a transfer fee. 80% are all over the place price wise. That is another drawback to inventory, prices can change. Sometimes they go down, mostly up. I guess one of the things that gets me if you look around online, prices are all...
I have run across businesses that will not ship to NY, period. Kind of like the ones that won't ship 80% lowers. As to 9mm, good luck finding it. I have been buying retail. Most that come in to buy cannot find it anywhere and/or have found places that won't ship. YMMV
I like the AR kits that...
I get how some shops are not great. I read thru this whole thread and there is some real disdain so I probably should have addressed that in particular.
As defense, I did address my post to the haters, not everyone.
Sorry to have shot so quickly. I guess I am getting grumpy from the whole...
Guess I am going to ask how you guys that hate LGS are fairing under Kingy's shut down. Because we are small, we are doing some hours and I am working LOTS of hours trying to FIND ammo and guns. black guns and shotguns are really in demand. BTW, we are getting business from CNY and from way...
As a small shop, we try to match Bud's and Grab a Gun. I ususally can and do. I hate seeing business go to them. If it is an item I absolutely cannot beat the price, I tell my customer that. Funny though, I sometimes come in way under their pricing.
l also plan on putting 80% lowers in stock...
I thought that shop had been shut down. Further, an inventory is a requirement now and if an owner has a brain of course an inventory is done. If no brain, no inventory and a law won't help.
Stolen guns, stolen from where, gun shops, individuals or police departments???
Seriously, which companies and are they going to starting abiding by this? Cheaper Than Dirt will not ship firearms to an FFL in NY. Is this going to be a similar situation? This is more semantics, ghost guns, like assault weapons.
I searched this a bit to see what, if anything new, the NYT article really takes the cake. One of the teens fired but did not hit anyone, blah, blah blah. Like that excuses it!?
Ok, according to the newer articles, one boy fifteen, two were sixteen. Who did they steal the Glock from? Was there...
Maybe that sheriff needs to go out and cruise thru his jurisdiction. I bet if he looks, he can find some concerns that are much more mundane and REAL without looking to hard. Like, oh maybe meth production.
Then after advertising on Youtube about being alone and gay, it will be someone else's fault. Let's put it out, loud and clear, I am here, alone with a scruffy dog. Yeah, no.
A number of questions come to mind, how and what is she living on for money? Doesn't address that but addresses the "gay" thing. How and whom is she expecting to come and live there? How are they going to live?I did not see any garden of any sort, did not see any means of gathering water, solar...
To help in exchange for knowledg is becoming a lost "skill".
We had five tables right next to the DEC set up, towards the concession area. Four tables had long guns on them.
